Peer Pearls
What pearls of wisdom can you share with your peers? We are looking for your Peer Pearls - your story and tips for other medical students.

Guidelines
Thank you for being a power user of OnlineMedEd and for joining the Peer Pearls program! The purpose of this program is to capture success stories from successful OME power users to be shared with others who will benefit from the experience, guidance, and tips to find success of their own. We hear from so many students who are desperate for mentorship, guidance, and practical advice on not only what resources like OME to use, but also how to best use them.
Because of that, we are asking you to detail your experience and include contact information for any students who would like to connect with you directly for advice. Your success story will be posted, along with others, on our website, and will reference your study guide (and others) via marketing materials and ads.
Submission Requirements:
- Share a headshot and email address for your profile (to be shared alongside your story)
- Peer Pearls should be 300-400 words that feature a “helpful” or “insider tips” tone/voice
- Include your name, class year, school affiliation, and specific use case for your experience using OnlineMedEd
- Ex: “I used OnlineMedEd throughout my clinical years, especially to study for Shelf exams.”)
- For additional compensation of $50, we would love to have a very brief intro video that we can use in our social media and advertising. Please create a 15-30 second selfie-style video to pair with your Peer Pearl that says something along the lines of, “Hello! My name is <insert name here> and OnlineMedEd has been pivotal for my medical knowledge, retention, and learning. If you’d like to read MY medical story, please click here!” (the more enthusiasm, the better!)
Steps to write your study guide:
- Prepare your thoughts
- Think about your experience using OnlineMedEd to be successful. When did you use it? Why? How did you hear about it?
- Capture notes about your experience that will guide your story
- Write the study guide
- Start with introducing yourself, sharing information about you and your specific use case of OnlineMedEd.
- Try to tell your story in sequence. “I was just starting my second year of med school…”
- Write in the first person. “My experience was…” “I first heard about OnlineMedEd via…” Etc.
- Consider a structure of:
- Opening/setting the stage
- Providing an introduction of yourself and a little background on why you decided to pursue a degree in health care.
- Challenges/problems to solve
- Describe the challenges you were up against and the impact those problems had.
- Overcoming the challenge
- How did you go about seeking a solution? What were the steps you took to solve the problem? What was OME’s role in that?
- Results
- Practical steps and actions you took. “Because I took steps A, B, and C, I can say, with conviction, the results were X, Y, and Z.” This should be detailed. “I used OME 5 days a week, for about an hour each day. I went through every module and was able to maximize my time by… etc.” Perfectly ok and encouraged to cite other resources/tips beyond OnlineMedEd that you used.
- “Parting Advice”
- If you have any other advice to give to students who are in the same situation you were once in, what would it be
- Opening/setting the stage
- Incorporate any revisions and finalize
- Please share your draft study guide with our OnlineMedEd team, who will provide feedback and return to you for edits.
- OnlineMedEd will take the final submission and publish it on the ClubMedEd member website
Compensation:
We will provide the power user a $200 gift card for a fully completed and published study guide. If you include an introduction video, we will add an additional $50 to that gift card total.
And that’s it! Again, thank you for your participation in this important program as we try to share best practices to those students in need. Way to pay all your success forward!
