Dr. Williams provided explanations that helped me build a solid foundation of clinical knowledge, not just to help me succeed on shelf exams, but also to feel more confident walking into each rotation.
From Step 1 to Clinical Excellence: How OnlineMedEd Transformed My Medical Education Journey
Matthew Eliassen
What’s going on, future OnlineMedEd users? My name is Matt, and I’m a third-year medical student at Trinity School of Medicine. I just wanted to share a bit about how OnlineMedEd has been a total game-changer for me during my clinical semesters.
After getting that Step 1 pass, I felt on top of the world. I really thought I had cleared the toughest hurdle. Now don’t get me wrong, passing Step 1 is a massive achievement, but pretty quickly, I realized that clinicals came with a whole new learning curve. There were what felt like entirely new concepts, and on top of that, figuring out how to juggle my free time while staying on top of my studies. I knew I needed a reliable and efficient resource to stay afloat. With all of the resources around, I was lost on where to start and terrified of resource overload.
That’s when a mentor of mine told me about OnlineMedEd. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m thankful I did because honestly, I haven’t looked back since. Between the high-yield videos and reinforcing everything using the Anki flashcard app, I finally felt like I had a system that actually worked. Dr. Williams provided explanations that helped me build a solid foundation of clinical knowledge, not just to help me succeed on shelf exams, but also to feel more confident walking into each rotation.
I’ve never been the type of student who could just learn by taking notes during lectures. My first semester, I learned the hard way that it just didn’t work for me. I discovered Anki early in med school and quickly realized that spaced repetition was key. What I love about OnlineMedEd is how well it integrates with Anki. I’d watch a video, then unlock the corresponding flashcards right after, making sure I kept reviewing that material consistently. It’s helped me retain so much more, and it’s already made such a difference in my preparation for Step 2.
Hands down, giving OnlineMedEd a chance has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.
